Between Tokyo and Yokohama is one continual line of buildings.

It is not obvious as to where one city ends and the other starts.

Looking out of the train window, you would not have the slightest idea where the border between them is.

“How do Japanese people differentiate between Tokyo and Yokohama?” asked a German friend. I did not have a clear answer for him.

However, the strange thing is, if you scrutinize things further, the exact same shaped building cannot be found anywhere.

All of these buildings have been designed by somebody.

Whether they be straight lines or curved, when I discover beautiful geometric patterns through the camera’s viewfinder, I am extremely delighted.

The more complex the pattern, the happier I am.

I am suddenly taken back to my childhood and the feeling I got when I remembered all the various shapes of cars around at that time.

I remembered all the shapes of the cars by memorizing a particular portion of their design.

Even today, I unconsciously continue to rework design.
